visit to make sure our re-
cent first one wasn't a fluke,
we went there again last
week . . . This time, I had
Beef Wellington as it should
be . . . with slight liver pate
atop the juicy, tender filet
covered by .a thin, flaky
crust . . . topped with a tasty
Bearnaise sauce.
It is most apparent that
Sussex House has changed
quite a bit since Sam Jarrus
is there as general manager
. . . and Chef Don Kanners
has been added to head the
new kitchen staff.
Also excellent waitresses
like Nancy Chytil with the
pretty smile and glowing
teeth that must make her
dentist very happy . . .
Nancy is so pleasant, polite,
efficient and personable .. .
Another of the "new faces"
that makes Sussex House
look real good.
TRINIDAD TRIPOLI
Steel Band this Monday and
Interlochen's Dave Sporny
Big Band on Wednesday
wrap up the regular season
of Chuck Muer's P'Jazz on
the poolside terrace at Hotel
Pontchartrain.
The end of P'Jazz this
year doesn't mark the end of
jazz on the terrace, however
. . . The Pontch will host the
opening act of the Montreux
Jazz Festival Sept. 2, when
Donald Byrd performs there
in an early evening concert,
a la P'Jazz.
SEEMS LIKE that por-
tion of northwest night life
has been reborn again .. .
People can now bounce from
Al's Scotch 'n Sirloin on
Greenfield and Northwest-
ern to Jakks on Greenfield
and 10 Mile . . . and vice
versa . . . Scotch with Louie
Marr Quartet and
songstress Sharon Williams
Tuesday through Saturday
Jakks with Turk Prujansky
and piano-songster stylist
Carl Steger Thursday
through Saturday and
pianist Ronnie Phillips,
Mondays.
Al's Scotch 'n Sirloin and
Jakks Lounge both corn-
'plement each other and
should boom a lot of busi-
ness back and forth in the
area.
OPENING FOR SIX
WEEKS ... with a preview
this Tuesday . . . and a press
opening Wednesday . . . is
the 1981 subscription series
at Fisher Theater . . . be-
ginning with George M. Co-
han's "Little Johnny Jones"

starring David Cassidy .. .
The revival marks the first
full-scale presentation of
the show written in 1904
that established Cohan as
an author and a star on
Broadway . . . Its songs in-
clude "Yankee Doodle Boy,"
"Give My Regards To
Broadway" and so many of
the great Cohan hits.
David Cassidy, the jockey
who goes to London to ride
the ponies, like Cohan is
from a theatrical family ..

his late father Jack Cassidy,
a leading musical comedy
star . . . He also starred with
stepmother Shirley Jones
and his brothers in "The
Partridge Family" TV
series.
