Isaacs, president of the Greater Detroit JNF Coun- cil; the Women of JNF, headed by Shirley Kraft; and the Young Women of JNF, headed by Donna Sklar, is responding to JNF's appeal and are com- mitting themselves as their contribution, to raise the $500,000 requested towards the restoration and replant- ing of areas in northern Is- rael devastated in recent weeks by PLO rocket at- tacks. Almost 200,000 trees in Israel's northern frontier forests, many of which were fruit-bearing, have been de- stroyed in forest fires result- ing from intense PLO Katyusha rocket attacks. The fire-fighting efforts of the JNF, the agency respon- sible for afforestation in Is- rael, was severly hampered by the rugged mountainous terrains. Both of the Detroit JNF women's groups had also established a forest and recreation center in Kiryat Shmona, the town which came under heavy attack in the recent bombings. Here too, the Detroit groups are com- mitting themselves to help replant and restore the area.
