Bob's restaurant on Ford -
Rd. in Westland has been
open 2 1/2 years . . . but the
Novi spot on 10 Mile and
Meadowbrook has only been
there 2 1/2 months.
There are now two Sil-
verman's Restaurants .. .
but the chance of one
coming to the northwest
area is not too remote...
Bob is looking for a site in
West Bloomfield or
Southfield.
One word of advice . .. he
better make it big enough!
NEW GARDEN Chinese
restaurant in the A. & P
Shopping Center, Nine Mile
and Coolidge, now has an
all-you-can-eat buffet setup
for lunches on Monday,
Tuesday, and Wednesday,
12 to 2 . . . The price for so
much food is like yes-
teryears has returned . . .
$3.65 . . . with nine all-you
can-eat items . . . salad bar,
egg roll, egg drop soup, pep-
per steak, egg foo young,
fried rice, chicken chow
mein (changes every other
day with sweet and sour,
chicken), almond boneless
chicken and tea or coffee.
Folks can have the lunch
buffet, or individual serving
from New Garden's menu
. . . Same holds true for its
popular all-you-can-eat
Sunday buffet, 4 to 8
($5.95).
Everything at New Gar-
den is made with oil.
JOE BEATO, head chef
at Henry Ford Hospital and
president of the Chefs 200
club, is looking to Sept. 13
when his group cooks up its
benefit for the March of
Dimes . . . the Great Soup
Kettle Race at 2:30 p
on the track of Wayne State
University's athletic field.
Restaurants and food
service institutions will
have decorated kettles on a
central axle with two
wheels . . . A special travel-

Owner is Israel-born
Mikki Malamud . , . with
seating of 45 inside the
bookstore where people look
for books and wonder where
that great odor is coming
from . . . Mikki's sister,
Donna, is visiting in Israel

Winkleman goes there Aug.

DISCO MAY BE slip-
ping away by chunks but
one would scarcely know it
when they stepped through
the front door at Blarby's,
Van Dyke in Warren.
Staccato continues with
danceable disco and a
generous dash of funk Wed-
nesday through Saturday
til end of August.
CANTONESE COOK-
ING and traveling are the
things with the Woo family
at Hoa Kow Inn, Nine Mile
west of Coolidge . . . Gene
and Ruby recently returned
from their Caribbean cruise
. . . and Ruby was back in
the kitchen cooking us some
of those great dishes of hers.
Gene's mom and dad, Dan
and Diane Woo, took the
grandchildren with them to
San Francisco and Reno .. .
Diane's a double-fisted slot
machine player . . . playing
two at a time and loving
that clickety clack of coins
dropping into the metal
tray.
SILA PIZZERIA on 12
Mile east of Greenfield,
owned by Mike and Al
Bsharah, has finally per-
fected those soft salt sticks
made from pizza dough .. .
They're delicious.
THEY CALL HIM the
69-year-old Fred Astaire at
Dillon's on Woodward . .
That's where Hyman Cash
is appearing Sundays 10 to
2.
Time was when Hy could
never even keep a beat let
alone dance . . . People with
operations or afflictions
can take heed . . . Hy has
been operated on six times
in the past 12 years but still
cuts a mean rug on that
dance floor.
THE LOUIE MARR
Quartet now at Al's Scotch
