THE BAR-B-Q HOUSE of Southfield, on Greenfield just south of 12 Mile, is be- coming a major priority on the restaurant visiting lists of many people . . . Espe- cially now that the former Raven Gallery site has signs telling folks about entrance and parking in the rear. Many who visited the former Raven entered from Greenfield and were con- fused by no door under the Bar-B-Q House awning . . . Entrance is better in the rear because of being di- rectly off the large parking lot. Owner Wayne Zanti (he has the Bar-B-Q House of Warren), cousin Danny Paoli who works with . Wayne, and close friend Mike Zafferano, put in about 8,000 hours getting Bar-B-Q House of South- SALADS SOUPS QUICHE BREADS PASTRIES CROISSANT SANDWICHES PICNICS SPECIAL ORDERS DESSERTS HAAGEN DAZS FROSTYOGURT EVERYTHING MADE FRESH DAILY! When Dodge Main in Hamtramck was torn down, Wayne bought metal doors from the rest rooms, all auto- matic door closers and other hardware to use at his Bar-B-Q House of Southfield. Every Thanksgiving, he goes door-to-door with friends and collects canned goods for the needy . . . Each year, Goodfellows give him the names of six families . . . They get a big Thanksgiving dinner, thanks to Wayne, who also buys the turkeys and has some of his suppliers chip in with a bit of food. Bar-B-Q,House of South- field is probably one of the cleanest bar-b-q operations around : . . being a stickler for cleanliness, Wayne in- vites people to visit his kitchen at any time . . . while so many other restau- rant owners hope and pray their customers don't see k there. what's going on bac He is the fellow at the enclosed rotisseries on weekends . . . and makes his own sauces . . . mild and hot . . . Wayne's tole slaw is the only one of its kind around . . . with chunky , grated American cheese . . . Folks get all the garlic bread they want . . . and their choice of two types --of potatoes, reo-ular French fried or Bar-B-Q House kitchen fries made with the peel on them. About those rotisseries . . . They're the real good ones . . . like the bar-b-q places of yesteryears . . . made by Jos. Cheifer . Those who remember can't forget how good ribs tasted made on a Joe Cheifer machine. Bar-B-Q House of South- field seats 100 people downstairs . . and 150 in the upstairs balcony. A fire hasn't got a chance at Bar-B-Q House . . . The overhead sprinkler system is a wonder in itself . . Pump for it takes up an entire former store room. All in all, Bar-B-Q House of Southfield has quite a bit going for it . . . good food, good service, beautiful at- mosphere and safety . . . Another big plus is now let- ting people know how to get in. - Bar-B-Q House of South- field is open seven days each' week - . . . and serves food until 3 a.m. on Fridays and Saturdays. JULIE GRANDON, 9-year-old daughter of Laura and Richard Grandon, is already start- ing on one of her vocations . . . as an artist . . . years ahead of time . . .
