Solarz is a member of the
House Foreign Affairs
Committee. An active
fighter to increase support
and aid to Israel since his
election in 1974, Solarz co-
authored the bill which
prohibited compliance by
American citizens and cor-
porations with the Arab
boycott and is a leading op-
ponent of the proposed sale
of AWACS to Saudi Arabia.
Solarz has made numer-
ous study missions to the
Middle East and has
actively worked to alleviate
the plight of Arab and
North African Jews.
Along with Blanchard,
he has played an active
role in the effort to free
Soviet Jewry, was a
member of the
President's Commission
on the Holocaust and
