Gazpacho

2 peeled cucumbers, chopped
5 medium tomatoes, peeled,
chopped
1 onion chopped
1 green pepper chopped
3 cloves garlic, chopped
3 cups tomato juice
1 /2 cup vinegar
1 /2 cup olive oil
1 small bottle catsup
salt, 1/4 tsp.
pepper, 1/4 tsp.
Mix all the ingredients to-
gether and let them sit in the
refrigerator for several hours.
Put all the ingredients into a
blender and blend for 1 minute
until the mixture forms a
smooth liquid paste. Serve
very cold in a cup or small
bowl.

ORT is seeking books for its
A check for $66,000 was
presented by the Sinai Hos-
pital Guild to the hospital at
the guild's 28th annual
meeting and luncheon held
recently at Temple Beth El.
The money, which repre-
sents this year's proceeds
from the gift shop, will be
donated to Sinai's Depart-
ment of Research. The
check was presented by
Mildred Wayburn, vice
president of the gift shop, to
Sinai's Executive Vice
President Irving A. Shap-
iro. This money brings the
total amount contributed to
research by the gift shop to
$800,000 since the hospi-
tal's inception.
The annual meeting was
also the occasion to an-
nounce that the guild's Arch
-of Friends Endowment
Fund has grown to
$490,000. Proceeds from the
Arch of Friends, which is
committed to the
encouragement of medical
excellence at Sinai, has
been earmarked to go
towards enriching Sinai's
cardi6vascular care pro-
gram for a five-year period.
Officers for 1981-1982
are: Pola Friedman, who
was re-elected president
for a second-year term;
Leah Snider, president-
elect; Renee Mahler,
Raquel Howard and
Mildred Wayburn, vice
presidents; Marion Weis-
berg, treasurer; Cynthia
