Although he avoided di- rect comment on the out- come of Israel's general elections, Mondale said any Israeli government would strive for peace and praised Prime Minister Menahem Begin's record. "Israel gave up the Sinai, gave up the (Sinai) oilwells, gave up some of its most at- tractive settlements in order to bring about the his- toric Egyptian-Israel peace," he said. He is Leonid Brailovsky, the 20 year-old son of Mos- cow Jewish activist Viktor Brailovsky, who was re- cently sentenced to three years and three months exile in Siberia for alleged defamation of the Soviet state. The elder Brailovsky's only apparent crime was to apply for permission to emi- grate for himself, his son and his wife, Irina — consis- tently refused by the Soviet authorities since 1972. Marc Sugarman, a staff writer for the Jewish Ex- ponent here, reported that Penn waived its strict admission re- WASHINGTON (JTA) — Prime Minister Malcolm Fraser of Australia left for New York this week after two days of talks with President Reagan and other members of the Adminis- tration in which he refused to commit his government to supply troops for the multi-national force to patrol Sinai. "We are hopeful that Au- stralia will agree to partici- pate," State Department spokesman Dean Fischer said. He added that the Ad- ministration understands that Fraser wants to consult with his cabinet before making a commitment. Secretary of State Ale- xander Haig said that he hopes to have answers by the end of July from the governments that may con- tribute forces to patrol Sinai after Israel's final with- drawal next April.
