(Nina) Bechek of Birming-
ham will celebrate their
50th wedding anniversary
July 10 in a special cere-
mony at Temple Israel.
The Becheks will be
called to the bima and will
be blessed by Rabbis M.
Robert Syme, Harold S.
Loss and Leon Fram during
services.
Mr. Bechek attended De-
troit public schools and the
University of Detroit,
where he was a member of
the national Alpha Epsilon
Phi fraternity.
He began his associa-
tion with Bnai Brith as a
member of AZA Chapter
63, the first AZA chapter
in Detroit. He later joined
the Louis Marshall
Lodge, where he has held
many posts, organized a
Bnai Brith Bowling
League and served as Na-
tional Bowling League
treasurer.
Bechek is also a member
of Oakland Century Lodge,
for which he served as fi-
nancial secretary and trea-
surer. He is a member of the

cial secretary of the Cres-
cent Shrine Club.
Bechek is a past member
of the Temple Israel board,
past president of the temple
brotherhood, past Temple
Israel scout master, institu-
tional representative and
usher corps chairman.
He is the recipient of a life
membership in the Jewish
Chautauqua Society, pre-
sented to him by the Temple
Israel Brotherhood.
Bechek has a life-long
interest in sports. From
1941 to 1968 he was a
three-times-a-week gym
instructor at the Fisher
YMCA. He also served as
baseball director at the
Jewish Community Cen-
ter.
Mrs. Bechek is a member
of the temple sisterhood and
choir. She is the past
president of her Women's
American ORT chapter and
is active in Hadassah.
The couple have two chil-
dren, Henry and Arline; and
three grandchildren. A fam-
ily dinner in their honor
will be given by their chil-
dren.
