Developers Buy NY Synagogue

NEW YORK — The
former Mount Neboh
Synagogue, _ ,owned by
Seventh Day Adventists
since 1978, has been pur-
chased by two developers for
$2.4 million, some $2 mil-
lion more than the church
group paid for it.

Alexander Edelman and
Emil Talel, who purchased
the valuable Manhattan
real estate, said that they
planned to build either
cooperative or con-
dominium 'apartments
on the site. Edelman said he
hoped to preserve the
synagogue's decorated
sandstone facade. He plans
to incorporate it into the
front wall of a new building
or leave it as a freestanding
wall with a courtyard or
patio in front of a building
put at the back of the lot.
