THE DETROIT JEWISH NEWS AJCongress Asks Senate Rejection of Two Measures NEW YORK — The American Jewish Congress has urged the U.S. Senate to reject a measure passed by the House of Representa- tives that would bar the U.S. Justice Department from seeking court-ordered busing in school integration cases. The AJCongress has also asked the Senate to reject a sweeping anti-abortion bill, arguing that "the proper role of government in a free society is to allow the differ- ent religious traditions to culcate their own beliefs IIIP about the appropriateness of abortion and to leave the final decision to the woman, answering to God and con- science." Kreisky Offers M.E. Opinions LONDON — Austrian Chancellor Bruno Kreisky believes that the situation in the Middle East would be entirely different today if Hitler and his regime had failed to be established in central Europe." Kreisky's comments ap- peared in "Arab Business Report," published in Hol- land and due to be launched in Britain in August. Kreisky feels that the adamant opposition to a Palestinian state on the West Bank comes from European Jews who emi- grated to Israel following the Holocaust. JERUSALEM (JNI) — A group of 700 women, has urged a law against using women or men as sex objects in advertising. The Fourth National Feminists Conference, which ended at the Jerusalem YMCA early in June, also called for criminal sanctions against acts exploiting, degrading or discriminating against women or their bodies. Other resolutions supported abortion on demand, 24- hour day-care centers, civil divorce and marriage, non- sexist school programs and the enactment of a basic law on women's rights.
