saved from being shot at a
concentration camp near
Radom, Poland. A teen-
ager, Guta Blas had jumped
at the Nazi officer who was
preparing to shoot women
prisoners.
Guta Blas was taken
away and the women pris-
oners had presumed she had
been shot.
When Mrs. Weitzen left
the recording booth at
the World Gathering and
walked to a nearby table
to fill out a form, standing
nearby was Guta Blas. In
the confusion of her at-
tack on the officer she
was kicked, beaten and a
bullet grazed her
forehead.
She later played dead and
her life was saved by an-
other prisoner who bribed
the commandant with a
diamond ring. Guta now
lives in North Carolina.

Dutch Gentile Woman Is Honored
for Saving Jews During Holocaust

GENEVA (JTA) — A
Dutch woman who helped
save many Jews during
World War II was awarded
the Medal of the Just
(Medaliat Chasidey Umot
Haolam) in Bern by the Is-
raeli Ambassador to Swit-
zerland, Mattiyahu Adler.

Mrs. Charotte De Habish
who lives in Fribourg, Swit-
zerland, was a young stu-
dent in Holland when she
helped Jews to escape.

Grace Period
for Neo-Nazi
Election Debt

BONN (JTA) — The
neo-Nazi National Demo-
cratic Party (NPD) has been
given a four year period of
grace to pay its 669,000
mark (about $335,000) debt
to a state-run foundation
which allocated election
funds to groups competing
in the Bundestag elections -.
The debt was incurred by
high advance payments re-
flecting previous election
results in which the NPD
had made considerable
gains.
Sources here confirmed
that Federal Finance
Minister, Hans Matthoefer
personally authorized the
unexpected delay. The offi-
cial reason given is that a
thorough investigation has
established that the NPD is
in dire fin ncial straits and
is in no position to repay its •
debt immediately.

3 Jews in Dail

LONDON (JTA) — The
number of Jews in the Dail,
the parliament of the Irish
Republic, rose to three after
the elections two weeks ago.
Two incumbents, - Dr.
Mervyn Taylor of Labor
Party and Ben Briscoe of the
Fianna Fail were returned
to office in their districts,
Dublin Southwest and Dub-
lin South Central.
The newcomer is Alan
Shatter of the Fianna Gael
party, who was elected for
Dublin South.
