Katz makes his home
with his daughter, Libby
(Mrs. Louis) Breyer, at
23120 Beverly in Oak Park.
He has one more daughter,
Mary (Mrs. Maurice) Katz,
four grandchildren and nine
great-grandchildren.
Born in Stolin, White
Russia, July 4, 1886
Katz came to New York in
1910 and shortly thereaf-
ter settled in Detroit
where he lived for 40
years with his wife Rose
to whom he was married
in Stolin and who came to
this country with him. He
lived with his second wife
Rose in Washington for
20 years before returning
to Detorit after her death.
In Detroit, he was first in
the metal bUsiness, then in
pillow feathers sales,'before
turning to real estate, here
and in Washington.
He recalls many associa-
tions and interests in organ-
izational and synagogue
movements, and he speaks
with special pride about his
friendship with the late
Fred M. Butzel as well as
other local notables.
In Washington, he be-
came deeply interested in
the Magen David Adorn, the
Israel equivalent to the Red
Cross, and -contributed an
ambulance to the cause.
The Mobile Cardiac
Rescue Ambulance he
donated to Israel was in
the names of Benjamin
and Mary Siegel Katz. It
arrived in Israel in De-
cember 1974.
Joseph Katz and his fam-
ily expressed the hope that
the June 27 kidush at Cong.
Bnai Moshe will be occasion
for reunion of old-timers

Blood Donations
Being Sought

The American Red Cross
is asking south Oakland
County residents to take
time out from the usual July
4 holiday routine of baseball
games, fireworks and pic-
nics in order to donate blood
at their local donor center.
The Oak Park Donor Cen-
ter will be open between 9
a.m. and 2 p.m. July 4 in
order to try and avoid the
usual July 4 blood shortage
and high blood demand.
Anyone in good general
health, 110 pounds or over,
and between the ages of 17
through 65 is eligible to do-
nate, though 17-year-olds
must have parental con-
sent.
The Oak Park Center is at
