Schoalrs Respect Rambam's Edict JERUSALEM (ZINS) — Talmudist Yehoshua Gil- boa, writing in Haaretz, says that many of the world's leading Orthodox scholars refuse to come to Israel in spite of their sup- port for the Jewish state be- cause of an ancient teaching of the Rambam. The Rambam said Jews may leave Israel for busi- ness or other temporary reasons but one must not settle outside the land. The scholars believe that once they visit they must remain there.
