Danny Raskin's

The Best of Everything

THERE ARE TWO
types of seafood buffets .. .
the kind you go to one time
only ... and another where
you return time and again
. Executive Chef Remy
G erdy at Michigan Inn on
J.L. Hudson Drive has
achieved the latter status
with his very fine Friday
evening seafood buffet.
It begins at 5 p.m. . . . set
up in the lobby outside the
Coffee Gardens, where folks
take their dishes . . . to go
back many times for more
. . . There is so much food
goodness at Michigan Inn's
Friday night seafood buffet
that it is almost impossible
not to return.
Chef Remy always has a
fish ice carving made by
him . . . standing majesti-
cally amidst the 35 to 40
items that include a differ-
ent soup each week ... crab
legs, seafood Newberg,
steamed clams, fried smelts,
shrimp in the shell, seafood
salad, lox, baked perch,
tuna mold . . . and even
something for those who
crave a bit of red meat .. .
carved roast beef.
Naturally, there are
bagels, cream cheese and

onions to go with the
plentiful, non-salty lox
. . . plus rolls, cheesecake,
cake and pies made in the
Michigan Inn pastry
shop . . . and cheeses,
fruits, vegetables with
dip, bean salad, mari-
nated mushrooms, fresh
strawberries, fresh
pineapple, etc.
Each week, Executive
Chef Remy Berdy, Food and
Beverage Director Randy
Villareal and Michigan Inn
add goodies galore to make
this one of the most sump-
tuous seafood buffets
around.
In the Coffee Gardens
where you return from the
buffet table, there's always
efficient people to bring you
fresh coffee or get you an- .
other drink.
This-is a very nice kind of
seafood buffet . . . No rush,
the atmosphere bright and
everything so fresh looking.
The tastiness of all items
presented is a credit to the
excellent ability of Chef
Remy, who has brought:the
best of the sea for all to enjoy
on a Friday evening.
SILVERMAN'S is name
of new restaurant on W. 10
Mile and Meadowbrook in A
& P Shopping Center of
Novi ... serving 45 differ-

Excalibur, Franklin and
Northwestern, Tuesday
through Saturday nights,

ing July 11 at the prestigi-
ous Montreux Jazz Festival
in Switzerland.
Larry and his quartet will
be at Shain Park in Bir-
mingham this Thursday .. .
free admission . . . 8 to 10:30
. . . in Jazz Comes to Bir-
mingham.
Whoever their replace-
ments will be during these
times away from Excalibur,
they'll be a very tough act to
follow . . . the commitments
were made prior to their
being booked into Ex-
calibur.
DOUG'S BODY AHOP,
Woodward just south of
Nine Mile, has a new policy
of top musical revues
downstairs in The Grease
Pit . . . First attraction of

You," "Puttin' On The Ritz"

Porter to Kurt Weill.
P'JAZZ, Chuck Muer's
summer-long series of bi-
weekly jazz concerts on the
poolside terrace of Hotel
Pontchartrain, is celebrat-
ing its 10th anniversary .. .
those 10 years have seen a
renaissance in downtown
Detroit and have witnessed
a renewed prominence for
jazz in the city.
