much as 50 years for Sams,
Inc. . . . which was owned by
Max, Herman and Bernard
Osnos.

cided to sell his second love
(naturally wife Harriet is
number one) . . . It's that
1950 Packard he's had for
eight years.

DENA WEIN walked off
with all kinds of honors at
recent bowling banquet by
Galilee Chapter Bnai Brith
. . . Barrister Mort Eskin's
very competent secretary
had high individual game,
high average and her team
took first place . . . Also, al-
though Dena holds a bowl-
ing average many men
would love to have . . . she
won most improved bowler
prize moola.

60th birthday.
INSTEAD OF the tradi-

tional ribbon-cutting at
openings, Mariomax Salon
in Hunter Square on Or-
chard Lake Rd. did the un-
usual . .. New owners
Mario Bitonti and Max
Rieger cut a braid of hair
from the tresses of Connie
Volpe.
It was a wall-to-wall
crowded opening . . . plus
tables and chairs outside in
the mall with a two-piece

combo (flute and guitar)
giving out soft, pleasure-
able strains . . . Champagne
galore, mounds of fresh
strawberries, cheeses and
pastries . . . plus three gals
having Mario gave them
that new trend Wash and
Wear Look . . . as he ran his
nimble fingers through
their hair with delicate
grace.
Mario formerly had
Bitonti's in Birmingham .. .
and Max wgs at Crimpers in
Farmington . . . the latter a
salon which both men at one
time owned jointly . . . It has
been five years since they
worked together.

Mariomax has 16 hair
stylists . . . for both men and
women . . . plus manicures,
pedicures and nail wraps.

CALLING LEO KAP-
LAN . . . Remember back in
1960 when you broke your
elbow while playing softball
at the Bert School Field and
wore a cast for six weeks?
. . . When summer of 1961
came, your wife Shirley
warned you not to play any
ball yet, and even Dr.
Harold Gehring told you to
take it easy.
The first game of the sea-
son came and sneaking out
of the house without Shirley
knowing, you were back at
your short stop position at
the same Bert Field . . . The
first ball pitched came
straight at you . . . You
stuck out your bare hand
and that was it — back in
the cast it went . . . this
time, Leo, you started the
season with it on!
QUICKIES . . . Little
Ruthe's alibi for missing
school was not convincing,
but at least it was original
. . . She_ explained to her
teacher, "I had intentional
flu."
At a party, there are two
kinds of people — those who
want to go home early and
those who want to be the
last ones in the place . . . the
trouble is they're always
married to each other.
The wife saw a pair of ac-
quaintances and remarked
to her husband, "Now that
looks like a happily married
couple." . • . The husband
replied, "Don't be too sure,
my dear. They're probably
saying the same thing about
us."
The housewife told of a
thief who stole $60 worth of
groceries out of the glove
compartment.
Oldsters agree that no

two children are alike —
especially if one is yours and
the other one isn't.
