LeVine Foundation to Henry Ford Hospital was recognized last month with the dedication of the cardiac rehabilitation unit at the LeVine Center. The LeVine Foundation, named after the late par- ents of Saul and Dan LeVine, first became in- volved with cardiac re- habilitation when Saul was recovering from a heart at- tack. The cardiac rehabilita- tion center is an exercise lab used by patients with an- gina, patients who have had a heart attack, heart bypass, valve surgery, or who are considered a risk for heart disease. The cardiac rehab pro- gram includes monitored usiness Briefs Amigo of Detroit has opened a sales and service center for Amigo wheel- chairs, trunk lifts and other accessories for the disabled. Pappas, Southfield insurance agent, newly-elected is the president of the Eight Mil- lion Dollar Forum. Its members must sell $8 mil- lion or more in life insur- ance in a one-year span. Pappas is the leading salesman for Connecticut General Life Insurance Co. and supervised exercise equipment such as a treadmill, a stationary bicycle, hand crank, row- ing machines and steps. The goal of exercising on the- equipment is to help patients resume the ac- tivities of daily living with ease and confi- dence. Dr. Bruce Relyea is medi- cal director of cardiac rehab. The program includes exercise stimulus or periods, cool-down periods and rest and refreshment. The heart rate is monitoried by electrode wires attached to a patient's chest and to a radio transmitter whose signal is picked up by a four-channel monitor for continuous display; the blood pressure is monitored by a blood pressure cuff.
