LONDON — The exist- ence of a Nazi concentration camp on British soil during World War II has come to light some 36 years after the war; according to an article in the London Observer. Nearly 7,000 people were starved, tortured or mur- dered at the camp, which was located on the German-occupied island or - Alderney in. the Englisl Channel. Although Alderney was known to be the site of a German slave labor camp, the actual details of what took place there were only recently pieced together. Most of Alderney's civi- lian population was evacuated before the 1940 German invasion. The sub- sequent silence on the part of the seven civilians who remained on the island be- came part of a cover-up in- volving high-ranking offi- cers in the British army, ac- cording to the Observer.
