Torah Scholar M. Feldman, Prolific Writer, Led Orthodox LOS ANGELES — Rabbi Moses Jacob Feldman, dean of the Orthodox rabbis in Los Angeles, died April 26 at age 85. Ordained at the Etz Chaim Yeshiva in London, England, and a graduate of London University, Rabbi Feldman, had a long career as a talmudic researcher and commentator. Just prior to his death, Rabbi Feldman com- pleted a monumental piece of Torah research, "Meshivat Nafesh," a commentary on the Torah Temima. Rabbi Feldman, whose daughter Trude is a Wash- ington correspondent who covered the Eichmann trial and interviewed every President since the late John Kennedy, was also an educator who would invite students of Judaica to his home to hear talmudic dis- courses and to study biblical text with him. Rabbi Feldman was the spiritual leader of Los Angeles' Beth Israel Con- gregation, formerly the Olive Street Synagogue, and later served the Bnai Emunah and Bnai Jeshu- run synagogues. Morris Friedman Morris Friedman, a scrap metal dealer, died June 10 at age 62. Born in Ann Arbor, Mr. Friedman was a member and past president of Cong. Beth Israel in Ann Arbor.
