`Civilized Divorce' Is Topic
of JFS, RS Annual Meeting

will be the guest speakers at
the annual meeting of
Jewish Family Service, 8
p.m. June 11 at United He-
brew Schools. They will
speak on the topic, "Is
Civilized Divorce Possible?"
Dr. Ambinder is a
licensed psychologist and
certified marriage coun-
selor. He is a professor in
the Wayne State University
Department of Clinical and
Educational Psychology
and the Marriage Counsel-
ing Program, and is an
assistant professor at the
Detroit College of Law.
He is a diplomate of the
American Psychological
Association and a director of
the Midwestern Educa-
tional Resources Center,
Inc., an outpatient
psychiatric clinic.
Dr. Ambinder received
his PhD from Cornell Uni-
versity and law degree from
the Detroit College of Law.
Dr. Lyness is also a
licensed psychologist
and certified marriage
counselor. She is an asso-
ciate professor at WSU's

Institute for Civilized Di-
vorce which provides legal
and psychological counsel-
ing for couples in the proc-
ess of separation and di-
vorce.
The focus of their pre-
sentation will be on the
legal and psychological
hurdles to be overcome prior
to enduring the divorce and
to analyze the role of coun-
seling in the pre- and post-
divorce process. They will
discuss how issues of child
custody are to be resolved
and will analyze when
"civilized divorce" is possi-
ble and when it is not.
At the combined annual
meeting of JFS and Reset-
tlement Service there will
be an election of board
members and officers to
both boards. In addition,
there will be an election of
Executive Committee of
JFS. Gilbert B. Silverman is
president of JFS and Edith
S. Frank is prdsident of RS.
