Eric Blumenthal, son of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph W. Blumenthal of Southfield, received the "Double Ruby" Award of Special Distinc- tion from the national president of the National Forensic League last week. The previous weekend, Eric won the state cham- pionship in extemporane- ous speaking at the Michi- gan Forensic State Finals in Ann Arbor. Vealburgers By NORMA BARACH (Copyright 1981, JTA, Inc.) 1 medium onion, diced 6 tbsps. oil 1 /2 cup bread crumbs 1 lb. ground veal 1/2 lb. ground chicken 1 tsp. salt dash of pepper 1 /4 tsp. garlic powder 3 eggs, beaten 1 /2 cup matza meal Brown onions in 3 tbsps. oil. Mix with bread crumbs, veal, chicken, salt, pepper, garlic powder and ,two eggs. Form six large burgers. Dip in the remaining egg and then in the matza meal. Heat 3 table- spoons oil in a large, heavy fry pan. Place vealburgers in fry pan and cook until brown on both sides. Fry potatoes in same pan with the meat if you have room. Place each burger -in bun. Serves 6.
