It's the Sheraton Inn on I-75 off West Road in Woodhaven . . . called Lar- co's South. Most of the faces are different and the place doesn't look one iota like Pete's place on Six Mile that he opened with brothers Nick and Mike in February 1953. But the Larco touch is still there . . . with food from a smaller and more reasonable menu tasting much the same . . . pre- pared by Pete's son Mike, and Joseph Coleman . . . Also there are Jim Macri Jr., whose father, Pete's brother-in-law, is at the Six Mile Rd. cash register . . . and Chris Rado, an- other Larco stalwart. Our waitress, Carla Duncan, is also a familiar face . . . She was on Six Mile for almost five years. It's the same very good Steak Siciliana . . . and the same delicious filet topped with Pete's private sauce. And if you ever thought he wouldn't have a musical combo, you're wrong . . . Larco's South is made up of a dining area, separate lounge bar and private ban- quet rooms . . . In the lounge is a jazz, standards, Latin, etc. quartet playing for listening and dancing. If possible, Pete would, be at both places at the same time . . . As it is, he puts on plenty of miles and time is no factor. After all the rumors about Pete opening another Larcos, he finally did . . . perhaps a bit farther than people thought . . . but nonetheless he did it . . . and the presumption could be very correct that Pete hasn't stopped looking . . . One of these days, there'll be another Larco's . . . on the northwest. AMONG THE FINEST children's nightclubs around is that of Spaghetti Co. Etc. at the south end of Wonderland Shopping Cen- ter on Middlebelt and Plymouth. Dinner is at six . . . show at seven . . . with Lowe, Hamilton Puppet Theater, four very talented people, putting on a most enjoyable 40-minute show. There's no charge for the puppet show . . . the youngsters get a free kiddie cocktail . . . their dinner is just $2.65, and includes them making their own an- tipasto salad from the buffet table which by itself is ordi- narily $4.15. The kids have their own private room . . . seating about 100 . . . and watch a very profes- sional performance . . . The lights go out at seven sharp and spotlights come on . . . plus a re- volving ballroom ball throwing dotted flickers all over the room in pic- Friday, May 15, 1981 rOMftil turesque fashion. The kiddie goodie eve- nings are Friday and Satur- day at Spaghetti Co. Etc. in Livonia . . . and it's best to make reservations (522- 5880). Adults must be accom- panied by children. EVER HEAR OF kosher Southern Fried Chicken? . . . It's available now in buckets or trays . . . at Lil Bloom's on Coolidge south of 10 Mile in Oak Park . . . The carry-out counter run by Shirlee Bloom has every- thing from fish to soup to luscious breaded veal cut- lets to a la carte and com- plete dinners.
