AND
MERIAM
HENRY Margolis live in a
non-Jewish area on Dixie
Highway in Anchorville,
Mich. . . . and so getting
Passover matza involves
requesting it by special
order . . . While doing this,
they weren't aware of the
over-the-phone transaction
taking root in the mind of
their nine-year-old
grandson, Collin, son of
Barry and Judy Merenoff of
New Haven, Mich.
When his non-Jewish
teacher expressed an inter-
est in the Seder rituals,
Meriam and Henry wrote
an explanatory note for Col-
lin to give him . . . with a
box of matza. -
They were naturally sur-
prised when he returned
home with the matza .
explaining that while on the
bus enroute to school, he
thought the matter over and
concluded that they better
keep the matza themselves
for next Passover . . . "in
case we won't be able to get
any then."
(Young Collin was reas-
sured and next day gave his
teacher the matza.)
JUDY EDER returned
from her seventh trip to the
Orient . . . bringing gifts
for friends . . . but making
sure not to forget someone
she had met only a couple of
weeks prior to her vacation
. . . While Rita Lipsky-was
visiting Judy, a box arrived
from the Orient . . . and
Judy called nine-year-old
Kimberly Leahy . . . It was
a beautiful sight to see
young Kimberly's face
aglow with joy upon open-
ing the box of toys, etc.
Judy lives in the North
Park Place complex with
Kimberly and her parents,
Lois and Tom Leahy . . .
Lois had wheeled her ex-
cited daughter into Judy's
apartment . . . Kimberly is
this year's Muscular Dys-
trophy Poster Child in the
local area.
AGAIN IN THE midst of
their annual door-to-door
drive for the National
Asthma Center in Denver,
are the dedicated girls of
Northwest Detroit Chapter
NAC . . . The drive lasts
through May and more
marchers are needed . . .
Contact Flo Rose, in charge
of the drive, 399-1751 . . .
Martha Burnstein (Morris)
is president of Northwest
Detroit Chapter NAC.
NOW RESIDING IN
Burlington, Va., Dr. Harvey
and Debra Klein were home
one day when three-year-
old son Benji was playing a
family game of bingo with
them . . . Harvey told Be-
nji, "That's not a 'c', it's a `g'.
You know your letters, don't
you?" . . . and Benji re-
plied, "Daddy, don't you
think this game is too old for
me?"
GET WELL WISHES
. . . to Joseph Markowitz
. . . at New Grace Hospital

. . . to Bonnie Markowitz at
Sinai Hospital.
To An-
CONGRATS
nette and Al Landy . . .
celebrating their 50th wed-
ding anniversary, May 31,
with a family dinner at
home of son Larry in Coral
Gables, Fla.
Annette and Al live in
Southfield . . . He played
hockey in the old
Michigan-Ontario League
. . . and was a sports writer
at the Detroit News in the
1930s . . . then one of the
editors at the Detroit Times
when it folded in 1960.
THERE'LL BE clowns
all over the place . . . in all
30 stores . . . at one time or
another . . _. when
Applegate Square on
Northwestern near Inkster
has its "One Day In May" on
Saturday . . . Also cotton
candy, popcorn and balloons
galore.
NICE PEOPLE DEPT.
. . . Mona Peacock . . . tel-
ler at the Manufacturers
National Bank branch on
Greenfield and Eight Mile
. . . Her know-how and
smiling efficiency is one of
the big reasons Manager
Bruce Lyons has a smile on
his face.
REGARDS . . . from
Mickey and May Shorr . .
in St. Petersburg, Fla. . . .
with thanks to Mickey for
the kind words on our recent
Sammy Lieberman item.
THOSE WHO
ATTENDED already want
to know when the next one
will be held . . . meaning
the recent "Saturday Nite
Fever" Fashion Show by
Rhodika . . . at Hamilton
Place . . . coordinated ex-
cellently by Debra Weiss. .
Wall-to-wall people made
up the almost 300 who
jammed for disco dancing
and exhibitions of modern
fashion, hair, makeup and
clothes.

challenge esteem toward
those who receive it, since it
costs them neither study
nor labor.
