Vince Assemany, President

announced plans to open
two additional sales and
construction offices in
Texas. To be located in
San Antonio and Houston,
both offices will be bran-
Mies of the main office in
Bloomfield, Michigan.
Further, Assemany stated
that future plans include a
national network of Miami

years. For further infor-

WASHINGTON (JTA) —
Secretary of State Alexan-
der Haig would not say last
Friday whether the Reagan
Administration's proposed
multi-billion dollar arms
sale to Saudi Arabia would
be submitted to Congress
this year.
Testifying before a Se-
nate appropriations sub-
committee, Haig said it
would be "difficult to pre-
dict" when the proposal for
the sale of enhanced equip-
ment for F-15s and AWACS
surveillance planes would
be ready. When committee
chairman Sen. Lowell
Weicker (R-Conn.) asked
'him if the proposal would be
submitted to Congress this
year, Haig replied, "I
wouldn't even want to pre-

judge that."
Criticism against the
proposed sales continued to
mount. Twelve U.S. Air
Force pilots in New Mexico
wrote to Rep. Tom Lantos
(R-Calif.) to protest the pro-
posal to sell the Saudis
Sidewinder air-to-air mis-
siles.
The unstable political
situation in Iran and
throughout the Middle
East led to the com-
promising of our F-14
aircraft, Phoenix air-to-
air missiles 'and our
Hawk surface-to-air mis-
siles," the pilots charged.
"We do not want the
technology of the AIM9L
(Sidewinder) to leak to the
Soviets through lack of se-
curity in Saudi Arabia or
through some closed-door
bargaining session."
The pilots added, "We at
the user level can attest
that the AIM9L thrusts the
American fighter pilot a
very large step ahead in air
combat over any other mili-
tary force."
Democrats have been
particularly critical of the
Reagan Administration
proposal to sell weapons to
the Saudis. The proposal
was criticized this week by
former Vice President Wal-
ter Mondale and New York
Mayor Edward Koch.
Sen. Joseph Biden (D-
Del.) told the Zionist
Organization of America
last weekend that Israel
and American Jewry
were partially to blame
because they did not im-
mediately oppose the Re-
agan Administration
proposal.
Late last week, Austrian
Chancellor Bruno Kreisky
confirmed that his country
is negotiating the sale of
Kuerassier light tanks to
the Saudis. Israel reacted
with an immediate note of
protest. It was also learned
that an Austrian firm may
sell a new 155 mm cannon to
Algeria and Jordan.
A West German news-
paper reported last week
that the U.S. will supply
Saudi Arabia with 200 XM1

tanks, manufactured by
Chrysler Corp. if West
Germany does not sell its
Leopard II tanks to the
Saudis.
American observers dis-
counted the report since the
XM1 has just begun produc-
tion and the U.S. military is
not expected to receive its
full allotment for a number
of years.

Almost a quarter of a century of
supplying discriminating buyers has
earned an unequaled reputation for

TEL AVIV (JTA) — A
sPecial unit of the Israel
police has files on some
200,000 Nazi war criminals
still at large and has been
instrumental in bringing
about 3,000 of them to trial
in countries around the
world, the unit's comman-
der, Inspector Menahem
Russek, told Israel Radio in
a special Heroes and Mar-
tyrs Memorial Day inter-
view.

He said the eight police
officers in the unit were all
former inmates in Nazi con-
centration camps and each
was responsible for the
region in which they had
been imprisoned.

The unit was born out of
the team that hunted down
and prepared evidence
against Adolf Eichmann.

All it took was a couple of miracle workers, a lot of team
