be featured at the Art
Works '81 event sponsored
by Temple Israel Sisterhood
May 3-5 at the temple, an-
nounce Co-Chairmen
Sheila Lipschutz and Lois
Singer.
Hours are 11 a.m.-8 p.m.
and luncheon will be served
each day of the event.

be available May 3, an-

Barbara Rosenthal, vice
president of ways and
means, announces that tic-
kets will be available at the
door. Proceeds will be used
for a youth room and center

Mrs. Leah Rabin Will Speak
at Hadassah Bond Luncheon

Mrs. Yitzhak Rabin, wife
of the former prime minis-
ter of Israel, will speak at
the annual metropolitan
Detroit Chapter of Hadas-
sah "Woman of the Year"
Israel Bond Luncheon at
noon May 7.
The announcement was
made by Joan Provizer,
Hadassah's Israel Bond
chairman and Annette
Meskin, chapter president.
The luncheon, to be held at
Cong. Shaarey Zedek, will
honor Lucille Weisberg,
recipient-elect of the "Lion
of Judah Peace Award."
While Mrs. Rabin was
still in her teens, she joined
the Hagana, and was once
arrested by the British for
her activities. In 1947, she
joined the Office of Informa-
tion of the Palmach, the
commando unit of the
Hagana.
After Israel became a
state, Leah Rabin taught
school. Subsequently she

LEAH RABIN

became active in work in
behalf of injured serv-
icemen and in improving
the conditions in army
rehabilitation camps.
She also participated in a
variety of social and wel-
fare projects. .
Actively involved with
women's organizations, her
main affiliation has been
with the Council of Working
Women (Moetzet Hapoalot)
which administers day-care
centers and community
programs throughout the
country. In 1975, Mrs.
Rabin was Israel's delegate
to the International
Women's Year Conference
that was held in Mexico
under the auspices of the
United Nations.
Other participants in the
luncheon program will be
Rabbi Irwin Groner and
Cantor Chaim Najman of
Shaarey Zedek.
