celebrate your
birthday at

Danny Raskin's

LISTENING
POST

IT WAS LIKE a conven-
tion . . . they came from all
over the country . . . and Is-
rael . . . and Canada . . . over
300 . . . at Cong. Beth Ab-
raham Hillel Moses . . . to
celebrate the marriage of
Jerry Guttman, son of Rose
and Irving Guttman . . . to
Lori Moskowitz, daughter of
Joe Moskowitz and Elsie
Moskowitz.
The gala festivities were
many fold also . . . as others
celebrated birthdays and
anniversaries . . . together
with the simha of Jerry and
Lori.
Eric Rosenow and His
Continentals were never
better . . . playing Latin,
jazz, standards, etc. .. .
People danced til Eric quit
at 1:45 a.m. . . . and many
didn't leave until 2:45 a.m.
Irving's brother Levi
Guttman came from Is-
rael ... Toronto-ites re-
presented Canada ...
and for the United States
were folks from New Jer-
sey, New York, Arizona,
California, Cleveland,
Chicago and metro De-
troit ... Las Vegas would
have also been repre-
sented had Sid Hudson
felt well enough to
attend.
Virginia Kozin went all
out with good food . . . hot
and tasty . . . and a beauti-
ful sweet table of which she
and her staff may well be
proud . . . Rose and Irving
are the Guttmans of Irving's
Delicatessen-Restaurant on
Greenfield and 11 Mile .. .
and to satisfy restaurant
people is a hard task . . . But
Rose and Irving had only
plaudits for Virginia's fine
work.
It was a fun celebration
. . . with Eric playing "Fid-
dler On The Roof' medley
during dinner plus
standards . . . and jazz,
standards, rock, Latin,
disco, etc. for dancing .. .
and Hora music for the ring
of young people carrying
Jerry and Lori on chairs and
shoulders in tune to Eric's
rhythmic beats.
What better kind of affair
can there be than one that
makes you happy at all
times . . . This was the mar-
riage of Jerry and Lori
Guttman.
JACK CARTER, comic
supreme and one of the best
in show business, will be
this year's attraction at
69th annual dinner-dance,
Sept. 20, by City of Hope
Greater Detroit Chapter .. .
at Detroit Plaza . . . For
more info, call Sarah Lee at
the GDC City of Hope office
. . . 353-2535.
SINCE THE RECENT
column item about Kung Fu
expert Leonid Shaykhet .. .
here only 11/2 years from
Russia . . . many people
have asked if he is really
that good . . . and if he
understands English .. .
Firstly, Lee is even better
than we said . . . and his ac-

cent is hardly noticeable .. .
as he explains with precise-
ness the benefits of Kung Fu
and Yoga, of which he is also
a master . . . Kung Fu for
self protection is a wonder-
ful thing . . . and so easy to
learn when Lee teaches it
. . . in groups anywhere .. .
He would rather have
classes without too many
. . . so his personalized at-
tention can be given . . . Lee
doesn't believe in groups of
20 or 30 like Karate or Tae
Kwon Do . . . unless it is for
mass organizational
demonstration.
And his yoga teachings
are exceptional ... Lee's
methods of self-discipline
and concentration are
amazing ... and the abil-
ity to prevent so many
minor afflictions is a tre-
mendous asset in yoga.
Leonid will be the May 11
guest of Joan Wittenberg on
her radio show, "Hot Line
To Health" heard every
Monday 12 noon to 1 p.m. on
WCAR (1090) . . . inter-
viewed about Kung Fu and
yoga . . . and answering
questions from listeners.
Lee remains available to
teach . . . and still offers his
services . . . free of charge
. . . for organizational
demonstrations.
What with so much ac-
cent these days on self pro-
tection . . . and health .. .
groups should take advan-
tage of having Lee . . . Call
him at 474-61b9.
ERRATA . . . Herb and
Gertrude Rosen have two
daughters (Tina and Marcy)
and one son (Dr. Robert) .. .
not three sons . . . Which
only goes to prove that usu-
ally reliable informants
aren't so dependable after
their 20th drink.
MAIL DEPT. . . . "My
71/2-year-old son, Ryan, said
something that really
amused me. My husband,
Sidney, and I have been
happily married for 26
years and have three
daughters — Shelli, 25;
Andi, 22; and Jody, 19. We
were then blessed with our
son, Ryan.
"One day recently, out of
the clear blue, he asked,
`Mom, does Daddy have the
same blood as us?' I said yes,
and asked why. Ryan an-
swered, 'Well, because he
wasn't related to us 27 years
ago.' "

The unspoken word never
does harm.
