singer and guitarist who
will present "Songs of the
Jewish Soul." His repertoire
includes Yiddish, Hebrew,
English ballads and art
songs. He is a pioneer in the
songs of the Hasidic and
yeshiva world, within
which Cantor Goffin lived
for the majority of his school
years, introducing many
popular standards. His spe-
cialty is the songs of Soviet
Jewry, having appeared at
more New York demonstra-
tions on their behalf than
any other singer since 1964.
In 1965, when ap-
pointed cantor of the
Lincoln Square
Synagogue at age 23,
Cantor Goffin was at that
time the youngest cantor
of a major New York con-
gregation.
He is listed in "Who's
Who in World Jewry."
Cantor Goffin has been
the musical director and
featured artist on 10
NBC-TV New York televi-
sion programs and has
toured the Catskill resort
area extensively. He has a
number of recordings to his
credit.
Cantor Goffin was fea-
tured in the Israeli maga-
zine, "Panim-el-Panim,"
which named him "the
representative of the young
cantorial generation in
America."
A graduate of Yeshiva
University with a BA de-
gree in psychology and
cantorial certificate and
diploma, he is continuing
graduate studies in can-
tonal literature and
musicology and is on
leave from the master's
program in school psy-
chology at the City Uni-
versity in New York.
Cantor Goffin was the
vice president of the Canto-
rial Council of America for
seven years, an affiliate of
Yeshiva University. He was
the musical director of the
Yeshiva University youth
seminars, is the principal of
the Lincoln Square
Synagogue School and
opening night entertainer
of NCSY national conven-
tions since 1962.
The concert also will fea-
ture Marty and Jonathan
Liebman. Marty was
graduated from Oakland
University and holds de-
grees in music and in lin-
guistics-. He also studied

Rochester, N.Y.
Jonathan is a student at
Wayne State University,
majoring in performance on
double bass and in jazz
studies and contemporary
media. Jon is a member of
WSU's orchestra, sym-
phony band and jazz band.
He frequently performs
with the Scandinavian
Symphony Orchestra.
The Liebman brothers
are founding members of
the Hebrew folk group
"Kol Yisrael."
Cantor Louis Klein also
will perform and the Bnai
Moshe Sisterhood Chorale,
under the direction of
Daniel Braude, will sing.
