Program Co-Chairmen Linda Levine and Gloria Ellis announce that the theme, "Tradition," will permeate the entire confer- ence program which will in- clude a keynote address by Evelyn Wasserstrom, past president of Bnai Brith Women and executive di- rector of the National Con- ference of Christian and Jews. Mrs. Wasserstrom is a member of the Missouri Committee for Higher Edu- cation, a board member of the Jewish Education Council, the Jewish Com- munity Relations Bureau, the Voluntary Action Cen- ter and the Kansas City Jewish Community Center. The two-day program also will feature Rep. Howard Wolpe and Bnai Brith Dis- trict 6 President David Bittker, who will address the conference May 1. The highlight of the conference will be the awards banquet when chapters and units and individuals are cited for their efforts in member- ship, fund raising, pro- grams, community serv- ice and communications. Chapters and units meet- ing the criteria will re- ceive the Four Star Award. The awards pro- gram concludes with the presentation to the Mid- west Region Volunteer of the Year. The conference will con- clude with a brunch May 3. Guest speakers include Dr. Michael Brooks, director of Hillel at the University of Michigan, who will discuss "Tradition and the Young Adult"; Michele Ungar, Nsiah, Great Lakes Council of Bnai Brith Girls (BBG); a Bnai Brith Women slide- narrative presentation and a special song adapted by Brenda Goodman entitled "One Dream."
