— Touro College will offer
its first Master in Arts de-
gree program in Jewish
studies, starting next Sep-
tember, according to an an-
nouncement by Dr. Bernard
Lander, president.
The Michigan Branch of
Women's League for Con-
servative Judaism will hold
its annual conference May
12 and 13 at Temple Israel,
Bay City, branch President
Myra Karse announces.
The conference is de-
signed to brief leadership of
Conservative synagogue
sisterhoods on issues and
action for the coming year,
according to conference
chairman Marjorie Saulson
of Cong. Shaarey Zedek Sis-
terhood.
Annette Blitzer, Women's
League national consul-
tant, will participate in the
branch conference and will
be the keynote speaker at
the dinner on Tuesday eve-
ning. The theme of her ad-
dress is "Choices = Living
Jewishly in a Secular

Dr. Sonya Friedman, psy-
chologist, radio-TV person-
ality, will be presented with
the organization's "woman
of the year" award.
Dr. Friedman earned a
master's degree in edu-
dation at Wayne State
University in 1963 and
her PhD degree in 1967 at
WSU. Author, lecturer,
consultant, visiting pro-
fessor, Dr. Friedman is
listed in "Who's Who in
American Women" and
was chosen outstanding
WSU alumna in 1979.
