NEW YORK — Israel's
largest buidling contractor,
Solel Boneh Ltd., has been
awarded an initial contract
to begin construction on
what is to be a 250-bed ex-
pansion of Kiryat Sanz
Laniado Hospital.
Although only four years
have passed since the hospi-
tal began full services to
Natanya's 200,000 resi-
dents, the hospital already
operates at 110 percent
capacity, according to its
medical director, Dr. Mor-
dechai Gerstein.
The new wing will allow
the hospital to improve and
expand its departments of
obstetrics and gynecology,
geriatric medicine, radiol-
ogy, out-patient services,
rehabilitative medicine and
its medical library.

Masada Medal

TEL AVIV (JNI) — In the
wake of the U.S. televiion
series about Masada, the Is-
rael Government Coins and
Medals Corp. is reissuing its
Masada medal. The medall-
ion, bearing the inscription
"Masada Will Not Fall
Again," will be minted in
silver and gold.

prehensive peace in the
region. That view is shared
in London where Haig met
with Foreign Secretary
Lord Carrington and Prime
Minister Margaret
Thatcher.
Haig told London report-
ers that his main effort was
to develop a "consensus" of
awareness of the menace of
Soviet interventionism in
the Middle East and he had
stressed that point in his
talks with leaders in the
region.
He refused to acknowl-
edge any differences with
Britain over the European
initiative, waying it was too
early to tell. He char-
acterized the EEC initiative
as "a fact-finding effort" but
indicated it would not re-
place the Camp David proc-
ess.
Meanwhile, several
U.S. officials split off

from Haig's party to visit
other Middle East coun-
tries that were not on the
secretary's agenda. One
of those countries, Syria,
reportedly refused to re-
ceive Haig's emissary,
but the report was not
confirmed by the State
Department.
Iraq, another country on
the list to be visited by a
member of Haig's party also
has no diplomatic relations
with the U.S. But the visit
there was preceded by the
announcement by the S+nte
Department that the' '.
has approved the Boeing
aircraft company's request
to sell three 727 and two 747
commercial jets to the Iraqis
for civilian use.
The sale, too, must be ap-
proved by Congress because
Iraq is on the American list
of six nations that support
terrorists.
