French Chief Rabbi Installed 'Breakfast With Bar Ilan'

PARIS (JTA) — France's
newly-elected chief rabbi,
Rene Sirat, on Sunday
warned that "many dangers
threaten France's Jews but
none as grievous as the risk
of losing their Jewish iden-
tity." Sirat, who was speak-
ing at the ceremony during
which he assumed his office,
said that this process "has
already started and is now
in the midst of a slow _but
dramatic evolution."
The 51-year-old Sirat was
elected last June to replace
Chief Rabbi Jacob Kaplan.
