Berlin May Name
Street for Owens
Near Stadium

VIENNA (JTA) — The
mayor of West Berlin and
the city council have agreed
to a proposal by the Simon
Wiesenthal Documentation
Center here to perform an
act of moral restitution by
renaming the avenue lead-
ing to the Berlin Olympics
Stadium after Jesse Owens,
the Black American Olym-
pic runner who won four
gold medals in the 1936
Games. Owens died in 1980.

and Jews will hold its fifth
day-long Southeastern
Michigan Conference on
Equal Opportunity Thurs-
day, beginning at 8:30 a.m.,
at the downtown campus of
Wayne County Community
College, 801 W. Fort.
The overall theme for this
year's conference is "Build-
ing Network Skills for
EEC." It will explore effec-
tive ways administrative
and staff personnel can de-
velop supportive networks
