"Teaching the Holocaust:
An Educational Challenge"
is the topic of a day-long
program to be presented by
the Jewish Community
Council April 7, beginning
at 9 a.m. at Mercy College of
Detroit.
The program is presented
in cooperation with the De-
troit Public Schools;
Greater Detroit Round
Table of the National Con-
ference of Christians and
Jews; Mercy College;
Midrasha-College of Jewish
Studies; and Southfield
Public Schools.
The program will begin
with registration and will
continue with a welcome
and introductory remarks
in the Houghton Room.
The morning session,
"Educational Chal-
lenges," will begin at 9:30
a.m. with a talk on "Why
Teach About the
Holocaust?" by Sister
Carol Rittner of Mercy
College. At 10, Dr. Irving
Greenberg of the Na-
tional Jewish Resource
Center in New York, will
speak on "Critical Issues
in' Teaching the
Holocaust."
Richard
Lobenthal,
Michigan Regional director
of the Anti-Defamation
League of Bnai Brith, will
speak at 11:15 a.m. on "The
Rise of Neo-Nazism, 1981."
Luncheon will be served at
12:30.
The afternoon session,
"Curriculum Develop-
ment," will begin at 1:15
