411111111111•111 114' 32 THE DETROIT JEWISH NEWS Friday, March 21, 1981 ON A DIET? Danny Raskin's HAVE A LISTENING POST FROM THE SMALL- EST to the biggest . . . back to the smallest . . . and then among the biggest . . . This is the short success story of Jerry Silver. A couple of months after he sold his interest in Silver's, Jerry worked out of the basement of his home . -. still serving the many people who wanted his vast know-how regarding office furniture, accessories and supples . . . He called it J.S.S. Sales, with sister-in- law Bunny Reisler at his side . . . and wife Mel giving oodles of moral support. Then came a building on Schoolcraft in Detroit, be- tween 4,000 and 5,000 square feet, where. Jerry stocked as much as he could for two years. On April 7, 1979 came the big move to his pre- sent locale on Stephen- son Hwy. and 13 Mile . . . A former 20,000 square foot Great Scott market . . . which Jerry com- pletely renovated . . . and now calls The Office Resource . . . a big, beautiful ultra modern and very largely •nven- toried operation . While being remodeled, walking by people thought it was going to be a disco because the cen- ter display area was like a large dance floor. The Office Resource has everything . . . and does ev- erything . . . furniture, car- peting, accessories . interior design, space plan- ning, window treatments, supplies . . . its own art and design dept., etc. It's a long way from 30 years ago when Jerry founded Silver's Office Supplies that grew to just plain Silver's. Now he and 40 employees care for people like they're long-lost cousins ... and so many customers swear by Jerry and The Office Re- source like they would whatever and whoever has been loyal and faithful to them. Jerry Silver and The Office Resource has office furniture lines not found anywhere else . . . since they are the sole dis- tributors . . . It's a wonder- ful feeling for Jerry to sit back in his chair and re- minisce about yesteryears . . . and recall that the biggest and best are still his customers. CONGRATS . . . to Jack and Shirley Moss . . . on their 35th anniversary .. . George Bass, past president of Downtown Synagogue, was the matchmaker when Shirley's maiden name was Simon.
