Soccer: Kerner's New Love

1983 or 1984.
Over the years Kerner
became friendly with
baseball star Stan Musial
and it was Musial who got
Bennie involved in the soc-
cer venture. Kerner
thought that at the begin-
ning he would come to the
office two or three times a
week and would take it
easy, but he's there every
day, 9-5 and really puts in a
hard day's work.
Kerner has been a sub-
stantial donor to a variety of
Jewish charities including
the Wingate School of Phys-
ical Education in Natanya.
The school has named a
dormitory in honor of
Kerner's donations, which
include several outdoor
basketball courts.

Emigres Develop Stethoscope

JERUSALEM (JNI) —
An Israeli electronics firm
has developed a new
stethoscope capable of reve-
aling tumors, changes in
heart functioning, kidney
stones, bone fractures, vari-
ations in tissue and even the
status of pregnancy and the
condition of the fetus.
The company, V.M.I., was
founded by a group of im-
migrant Russian _engineers
and scientists to develop
and market new technol-
ogy. The advanced stethos-
cope uses high-frequency
ultra-sound vibrations to
register sensitive body
processes in comparison
with surrounding tissue,

marking its readings auto-
matically on tape. The ad-
vanced stethoscope is light,
portable, and sells for
$6,000.

Election Gift

TEL AVIV (ZINS) — The
newspaper Maariv reports
that several Jewish mill
lionaires outside of Israel
have made substantial do-
nations to the Labor Align-
ment's election campaign.
The list includes Fried-
man of France, Bronfman of
Canada, and Gaon of Swit-
zerland, a long-time friend
of Prime Minister
Menahem Begin of Likud.
