Nine neo-Nazis, members of the Westland-based "SS Group," held a "rally" in Birmingham's Shain Park on Saturday afternoon. The group was heckled by passersby but there were no incidents. Birmingham police said the group did not need a permit to meet in the park because they were not parading. The group carried swastika signs which said "America Awake," "White Power" and "Smash Communism." Police later found a suit- case filled with wood in the park that was wired to look like a bomb.
