Bnai David to Start Forest, Honor Berenholz for the JNF

Cong. Bnai David's Mem-
bership Breakfast 10 a.m.
May 3 at the synagogue,
is being held in order to es-
tablish a Cong. Bnai David
Forest in the Rabbi Leo
Jung Forest in Safed, Israel,
according to Larry Traison,
the congregation's presi-
dent. Synagogue past
president Gustav Berenholz
will be honored. Participat-
ing in the event will be the
sisterhood and the men's
club. The breakfast is being
sponsored in cooperation
with Jewish National Fund.
Honoree Berenholz, in
1978, while he was the con-
gregation's president, was
the recipient of the state of
Israel's 30th Anniversary
Award at the annual Bnai
David Tribute Dinner on
behalf of Israel Bonds.
Born in Poland, he was
attending mechanical
engineering school at the
beginning of the Holocaust.
He escaped to Russia and
returned to try to convince
his parents to leave Poland.
