According to Community, a Jewish publication in Louisville, Ky., uniden- tified persons armed with red paint sprayed swas- tikas, "White Power" and other racist slogans on the walls of the Adath Bnai Is- rael synagogue in Evansville, a town in south- ern Indiana with a Jewish population of 1,200. The in- cident occurred in the early hours of Feb. 22. Children reporting for Sunday_ school classes at the synagogue were confronted with the hate messages. It was the second incident of its type in the past 18 months. It differed from the first in that it was not fol- lowed by hate letters and telephone calls.
