Shades of Yenta the
Matchmaker!
Eleanor Siegel of Chicago
is mad as hell about the in-
creasing intermarriage rate
and she's not going to take it
anymore. Her solution? A
Jewish dating service.
In a letter sent to Jewish
editors, accompanied by a
press release about her
service, Miss Siegel an-
nounces the availability of
her Jewish matchmaking
service — Chutzpah Un-
limited, Inc.
Unhappy and the tradi-
tional methods in which
singles are paired up —
meeting in singles bars,
fix-ups and synagogue
and temple singles
groups — Miss Siegel has
undertaken a one-person
campaign to bring the
country's Jewish singles
together.
What makes her so qual-
ified? She explains in part:
"I am 29 years old and an
active and attractive
Jewish single myself! I
know the frustration of
seeking, a compatible
Jewish mate. This frustra-
tion has led me to the
gradual development of a
non-profit organization

You've always taken care of everyone else.
Now it's time to take care of yourselves.

Your kids had everything. No matter what, they always came first.
But now your kids are saying you come first. And they're right. They don't want you
suffering from heart disease and other painful illnesses. So it's time to take special
care of yourselves by enrolling in the 26-day diet and exercise program at the
Pritikin Longevity Center in Santa Monica, California.
The Center is under complete medical supervision and has helped over 7,000 people
prevent or reduce serious health risks of heart disease, angina, claudication, diabetes,
obesity and high blood pressure.

During your stay you'll receive the finest professional care. Individualized
consultations with physicians, nutritionists, exercise physiologists and behavioral
scientists. Daily treadmill exercise classes. Delicious meals based on Nathan Pritikin's
low-fat, low-cholesterol diet. Cooking classes. Educational lectures. And first class
accommodations on the Pacific Ocean.

And once you leave, the Center will continue to care for you through its alumni
support groups in your home town area.
Call or write the Pritikin Longevity Center today. Before your kids do it for you.

whose sole purpose is to
provide an environment in
which Jewish singles can
meet, mingle and hopefully
marry a member of their
own faith, so that our people
will not perish through as-
similation."
Persosn who wish to
utilize the service obtain an
application from Miss
Siegel and give her infor-
mation about themselves —
the personal data and a
brief description of their
interests, hobbies, motiva-
tions.
Then, the information,
minus name, address and
telephone number, is
coded and inserted into a
directory sent to sub-
scribers.
Subscribers receive the
list of members of the oppo-
site sex and initial contact is
made by letter. The letters
are sent to Miss Siegel and
she forwards the letter to
the party pursued. Then,
the inquirer and the pur-
sued can contact each other
by telephone or in person.

.Men receive a pink direc-
tory with women's names
and women receive a blue
directory with men's names.
All who utilize the service
are required to pay a fee for
a listing. They must be able
to communicate in English.
Talk about chutzpah!
Miss Siegel includes herself
among the listings of eligi-
ble females, as follows:
"Sparkling and Creative
(QSW-129). This computer
professional believes that
emotional support is thrAL
sweet mortar of life. Her deli
sire for marriage is sincere
and based on the true mean-
*I=
ing of sharing and giving.
She looks for a man who ac-
cepts himself and others

and who will spark her
creativity. A non-smoker,
she is willing to relocate and
keep kosher."
Now that's chutzpah!
Persons who wish to be
listed with Miss Siegel's
service should write to
Chutzpah Unlimited, Inc.,
P.O. Box 2400, Chicago, Ill.,

It has been a custom to
spill out vessels of water
around the area where
death had taken place.
Some contend that this
practice is carried out be-
cause open vessels of water
are rendered impure when
they are in the room where
