JERUSALEM (JTA) —
Nine people were ixijured
Monday when a bomb
exploded in a market stall
in downtown Gaza near the
city hall. The explosion,
caused by a Soviet-
manufactured hand gre-
nade, occurred as Mayor
Rashad a-Shawa was meet-
ing with Israel's Military
Governor Yitzhak Segev to
discuss, among other items,
plans for the reopening of
the "Palestine Bank" in
Gaza.

The New World Quartet will render a musical pre-
sentation at the Temple Emanu-El Sisterhood's sec-
ond annual VIP luncheon.

Premier Menahem Begin
sent his "deepest condo-
lences" to President Anwar
Sadat over the death of
Egypt's Defense Minister
Ahmed Badawi in a helicop-
ter accident last week.
Thirteen other high-
ranking Egyptian officers
perished in the mishap.
Badawi, who was named
Defense Minister last May,
commanded the Egyptian
Third Army during the Yom
Kippur War.
