The goal of $19,150,000

1981 share for the Israel
neighborhood rehabilita-
tion plan Project Renewal,
is based on an analysis of
the Detroit Jewish commu-
nity's capacity to support
the Campaign's be-
neficiaries, some 60 in all.
Women throughout the
metropolitan Detroit
area will be asked to
make their pledges to the
Campaign during the
Women's Division
Phonogift, March 22-29 at
the United Hebrew
Schools.
Phonogift volunteers will
be manning the phones 9:30
a.m.-2 p.m. on the two Sun-
days, March 22 and 29, and
also during three shifts —
8:45 a.m.-12:30 p.m., 3-5:30
and 6:30-9, March 23 and
24. They will work the
morning and evening shifts
only on March 25 and the
evening shift on March 26.
A briefing party and
luncheon for workers will be
held noon Wednesday at
United Hebrew Schools.
The program will include an
update on Campaign pro-
gress and "Images of Us," a
presentation about the
communal and worldwide
agencies that benefit from
Campaign. Marcia Parven
and Reva Rosen are chair-
men of the day.
The chairman for
Phonogift is Janice
Schwartz. Serving with her
is associate chairman Sha-
ron Hart. Other chairmen
for the event are Terran
Leemis, coordinator; Nancy
Hirsch and Leah Snider,
briefing; Harriet Colman
and Julie Gurwin, clerical;
Renee Mahler and Roberta
Grosinger, special han-
dling; Harriet Rich and
Bobbie Blitz, task force, and
Susan Marwil and Judy
Naftaly, Spring Phonogift.
Shelby Tauber is
president of Women's Di-
vision, and Jane Sherman is
the division's Campaign

gins with a cocktail recep-
tion at 6:30 p.m.
Israeli writer and director
Israel Amitai will be the
guest speaker. The author
of many plays and articles,
Amitai also has thousands
of programs to his credit as a
television producer and di-
rector. He has lectured ex-
tensively on Israel and its
immigration and absorp-
tion problems.
The Dentists Section is
chaired by Drs. Jason Goode
and Richard D. Williams.
Donald Fox and Dr. Har-
ris W. Mainster are chair-

by an address by Albert I.
Ascher, executive director
of the Jewish Vocational
Service and Community
Workshop.
Ascher also is a commit-
tee chairman of the Na-
tional Association of Re-
habilitation Facilities of
whose Michigan Chapter he
is the secretary and a
former president. He serves
on the board of trustees for
the National Association of
Jewish Vocational Services.
Metropolitan Division is
chaired by David Levine.
Edward Gordon is the asso-
ciate chairman. Division
committee chairmen are
Hubert J. Sidlow and Helen

fellowships enabling them
to teach concert band in-
struction in Israeli public

rael Aliya Center.

Holocaust Study
for Dutch Schools

AMSTERDAM (JTA) —

A studies project designed
to inform junior high school
and high school pupils of the
dangers of anti-Semitism is
under preparation, to be in-
troduced into the Dutch
school system in the 1982-
1983 school year.
The guide for teachers
calls for a total of 20 hours of
instruction and is modeled
after Holocaust teaching
projects in the United
States, Britain, West Ger-
many and Israel. Consider-
able attention will be given
to the history of Jews in The
Netherlands.
