Harsher Rule?
JERUSALEM (ZINS) —
The Likud government says
the Labor Alignment was
harsher than Likud in its
dealing with the West Bank
while it was in power.
Deputy Defense Minister
Mordecai Zipori told the
Knesset_recently that dur-
ing 10 years under Labor
governments, 1,224 West
Bank houses were de-
stroyed or sealed and 884
persons were deported.
Under Likud, 34 homes
were destroyed or sealed
and four persons deported.

rael Goralnik, Deputy Gen-
eral of the Ministry of Social
Betterment, disclosed that
75,000 Israelis are pre-
sently unemployed, repre-
senting 5.2 percent of the
country's work force, corn-
pared to 39,000 or 2.9 per-
cent of the work force in
1979.
The doubling of the un-
employment rate in the past
two years may force the
government to initiate
large-scale work projects.
According to Goralnik,
unemployment is worst in
the northern townships
such as Aful, Migdal
Haemek, Upper Nazareth,
Tiberias, Safad, Kiryat,
Shmona, Karmiel and Acre.
eight cars stolen from Israel
and hidden in the Sinai des-
ert. The vehicles, all large
cars, mainly Mercedes, had
been used in Israel as taxis
and are in strong demand in
Egypt.
In the months befog e Is-
rael withdrew from the
western part of the Sinai,
many cars were stolen and
driven to Sinai where they
were buried under and
dunes awaiting the ar ival
of the Egyptians.-Most were
therl uncovered and I aken
to Cairo where they were
sold.
