Pianist Varani to Appear
in Concert With the CSO

Pianist Flavio Varani
will be soloist with the Cen-
ter Symphony Orchestra
3:30 p.m. March 8 in the
Aaron DeRoy Studio Thea-
ter of the main Jewish
Community Center.
He will perform Beeth-
oven's Piano Concerto in C
Major and Chopin's Con-
certo in E Minor. Theme

Bribe Witness Hit

TEL AVIV (JTA) — De-
puty Mayor Yisrael
Gottlieb of Bnei Brak, a key
prosecution witness in the
bribery trial of Religious Af-
fairs Minister Aharon
Abu-Hatzeira, was attacked
and severely injured in his
office in the town hall Feb.
15. Police said he was struck
on the head by a blunt in-
strument. Gottlieb was hos-
pitalized for treatment of
lacerations and later went
to the police station where
he identified his assailant
as a diamond polisher em-
ployed by Shmuel Daskal,
one of Abu-Hatzeira's co-
defendants.

to exchange visits during
the coming months. The
youngsters will be housed
by private families during
their stay in Israel and

ciation says industrial
production in Israel fell by
five percent in 1980, exports
rose by only 12 percent and
the work force dropped by
8,000. -

Arab Views
of Elections

JERUSALEM (ZINS) —
The East Jerusalem Arabic
newspaper Al Quds has ex-
pressed concern that the
Labor Alignment will re-
gain control of the Israeli
government.
The paper said that if
Labor returns some of the
West Bank to Arab control
the world will not be sym-
pathetic to violent actions
and proclamations of the
Palestinians.
