Our passions are like and then they turn into tyr-

blood-sugar levels. I first
went on a natural diet, gave
up refined white sugar and
carbohydrates, junk food
and liquor and felt much
better. When I added vita-
mins, there was a dramatic
improvement.
"There is one answer, but
believe me, with a little
work on your part (I'll be
glad to help too) you can get
this very uncomfortable
problem under control, and
the sooner you do it the bet-
ter off you'll be."
BIGGEST ATTRAC-
TION downtown these days
. . . especially when an
event is going on . . . is the
Down Under Restaurant
Lounge at Hart Plaza .
on Jefferson between Cobo
Hall and Renaissance Cen-
ter . . . Hard to believe but
down those-stairs is like an-
other world . . . with people
joyously skating outdoors
while folks in the restau-
rant have always as much
fun watching them.
The Winter Wonderland
of Down Under has been
this way since its opening
Dec. 12 just over a year ago
. . . and those who haven't
been there are missing
something.
Picture it, too, as a great
babysitter . . . with the kids
outdoors skating . . . and
Mom and Dad in the Down
Under restaurant eating
and watching.
What are they eating?
. . . There's everything
from an oyster bar to
steak to fish to the best
clam chowder soup this
side of anywhere . . .
Like General Manager
Leo Fein says "If a guy
from Boston can't serve
good clam chowder, he's

The Lyric Chamber

Shores.

Ravel and Bartok.

Goldman, Detroit Sym-
phony Orchestra assistant
concertmaster; Caroline
Rogers, lyric soprano; and

in trouble" . . . Leo was
born and raised in Bos-
ton.
Clam chowder isn't the
only thing Leo brought with
him . . . Ever hear of
Philadelphia Cheese Steak?
. . . Neither did I . . . but
it's a famous Philly sand-
wich at Pat's Steaks in the
Market District of South
Philadelphia where hun-
dreds of people stand
around (no seats — only a
carry-out operation during
late hours eating the sand-
wich).
Leo owned a restaurant in
Philadelphia before coming
to Detroit . . . We both had
the clam chowder and
Philadelphia Cheese Steak
. . a delicious sandwich on
sesame French roll with
grilled onions and thinly-
sliced roast beef.
For dessert, you must try
the peanut banana cream
pie . . . nobody else around
has it that I know . . . It's
made without any baking
(except, of course, the crust.)
New chef is Jim Myers,
graduate seven years ago
from the Schoolcraft
School of Culinary Arts
. . . He made us some of
the best hand-cut onion
rings we've had in a long
time.
Down Under is a great
after-theater spot . . . plus
lunch and dinner . . .
There's valet parking in the
evening . . . and a show
every day.
You'll like not having to
wait for that second cup of
coffee . . The cups are
double-sized.
And there's pretty, atten-
tive and smiling day hos-
tess, Pam Swift, an attrac-
tion all by herself.
Down Under in the Hart
Plaza lives a great deal on
those events downtown . . .
always a waiting list when
any kind of affair (concert,
symphony, hockey, fight,
etc.).
However, it has already
become-a downtown Detroit
institution in its own entity
. . . If you haven't visited
Down Under, you're mis-
sing something.

The Wayne State Univer-
sity Men's Glee Club will
present a program of the
music of P.D.Q. Bach 8:30
p -m. Saturday in the Com-
munity Arts Auditorium on
the WSU campus. There is a
charge.
