TEL AVIV (JNI) — Dur-
ing the past six months,
seven young patients at the
Sheba Medical Center re-
ceived "muscle regulators"
to correct the curvature of
their spines. The new
method, already utilized in
seven European hospitals,
involves the surgical im-
plant of a small disc beneath
the baelCrib cage.
During sleep, the 8-to-
13-year-old child is at-
tached to a machine which
stimulates the spinal mus-
cles to correct curvature.
The two-year treatment re-
places cumbersome and
painful braces.
