Naming the new plant Triticum Parvicoccum, Dr. Kislev has shown that the small wheat kernels and ears unearthed at many prehistoric sites, including those in Israel, cannot be identified with any current plant species. The missing link in wheat evolution was extensively cultivated about 7,000 years ago, but after the final biological step producing modern wheat (Triticum Aestivum) occurred, Parvicoccum cul- ture was slowly abandoned, leading to the plant's ex- tinction. Dr. Kislev, whose field is archeobotany, and a team of Bar-Ilan scientists have closely examined the small-grain wheat found in several archeological sites dating from 7000 BCE to the Roman period. He has also searched the literature and found many published reports which noted the small grain findings, but overlooked their signifi- cance. Detroiters Aid Israeli. Student A group of Detroit area citizens, spearheaded by Dr. Marvin Klein of Southfield, has made possible awarding of a scholarship -to The Na- tional Music Camp in Inter- lochen, Mich., to a 17-year- old Israeli student. The 1981 National Music Camp Scholarship for An Israeli. Student will go to Moshe Liebovitz of Lod, Is- rael. Liebovitz has been study- ing trombone for six years. _ For the past four years he has been an annual winner of a Keren Sharret Schol- arship provided by the American Israel Cultural Foundation. The troubled blood through his pale face was seen to come and go with tidings from his heart, as it a running messenger had been.
