Glazer Institute for Clergy Slated Feb. 13 at Beth El The 39th annual B. Be- nedict Glazer Institute on Judaism for the Christian Clergy of Metropolitan De- troit will be held Feb. 13 at Temple Beth El. _Dr. Lawrence A. Hoffman, professor of liturgy and related litera- ture at the Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion in New York, will speak on "Unleavened Bread — A Symbol of Salva- tion in the Passover Meal." The lecture will begin at 10 a.m., in the Benard L. Maas Chapel. After questions and dis- cussions, the second lecture will be delivered by Dr. Al- bert Micah Lewis, rabbi, Temple Emanuel, Grand Rapids. The topic of Rabbi Lewis' lecture will be "My Aging, Your Aging, Their Aging: Perspectives for Clergy." Questions, com- ments and discussion will follow the lecture. Rabbi Richard C. Hertz, senior rabbi of Temple Beth El, is in charge of planning and presiding at the annual institute honoring the memory of Dr. B. College of Jewish Studies Registration to Open Registration for the spring semester of the Col- lege of Jewish Studies will be held 7:30 p.m. Wednes- day at Temple Beth El. A total of 16 subjects will be offered in courses that will run for 12 consecutive weeks. Included are such new courses as Israel: The Past — The Present — The Promise; The Book of Genesis; How Viable Is Our Bible; Jews and the New Testament; The Synagogue; Family Feuds in the Bible; When Children Ask. In addition, there will be classes in Intermediate He- brew; Modern Jewish His- tory; Introduction to Judaism; Beginner's He- brew; Rabbinic Responses to Modern Jewish Prob- lems; Advanced Yiddish; Patterns of Prayer and spe- cial courses designed for prospective converts to Judaism. The College of Jewish Studies is sponsored by the Metropolitan Detroit Federation of Reform Synagogues and all courses are taught by the rabbis, cantors and educators of affiliated congregations. Cantor Arthur Asher, dean of the college, an- nounced that courses are open to any adult in the community.
