say "please" as well. One
cannot claim it is reaching
epidemic proportions, but
there is no doubt that folks
are beginning to lower the
tone of their voices in public
conversation.
More and more one sees
motorists slowing down at
intersections and courte-
ously waving another
driver to take precedence.
The line at a bus stop
will remain in good or-
der, each passanger wait-
ing his turn to board, ex-
cept where the thought-
less driver stops his ve-
hicle with the entrance
door plumb in the middle
of the lane. Then watch
the pandemonium that
ensues!
The Israeli is beginning
to recognize that there has
been much truth in the as-
sertion that we are brash,
loud, pushy, undisciplined.
Not all of us, of course, but
enought to make the repu-
tation stick nationally.
Perhaps the change
began with the launching of
a safety drive to reduce road
accidents. It has been work-
