The World Gathering of
Holocaust Survivors,
scheduled for Jerusalem
June 15-18, appears to be on
the way to becoming as
much a success as its plan-
ners hope.
At a recent meeting with
Jewish journalists in New
York City, Ernest W.
Michel, executive vice

vivors also included, some
have estimated the
attendance at the four days
of programs will be as high
as 20,000.
Survivors attending
without paying the regis-
tration fee was of some
concern to Benjamin
Meed, president of the
Warsaw 'Ghetto Resis-
tance Organization and
vice chairman of the
steering group. He
pointed out that only
those who register will
have reserved seats at the
various events of the
world gathering and only
they will be permitted
aboard the fleet of 100
buses planned to shuttle
the survivors to the var-
ious events.
The gathering promises
to be a busy and momentous
time. A fifth day has been
added to the events, Michel
said, with Stefan Grayek,
president of the World Fed-
eration of Jewish Fighters,
Partisans and Camp In-

mates, hosting a reception
in Tel Aviv June 14. The
next day the gathering will
officially open with an ad-
dress by President Yitzhak
Navon to the survivors at
Yad Vashem. -
On June 16 there will be
seminars at kibutzim estab-
lished by Holocaust sur-
vivors, Nezer Sereni,
Lohamei Haghettaot and
Yad Mordechai. The next
day will be devoted to the
second generation, the sons
and daughters of Holocaust
survivors, who are consid-
ered .a very important part
of the entire program.

The final day, June 18,
will include a session at
the Knesset followed by a
candlelight procession to
the Western Wall where
there will be a solemn
ceremony transmitting
the "Survivors' Testa-
ment" to the second gen-
eration.

All the people who will
attend the gathering are

paying their own way. The
expenses for organizing the
event have been helped by
contributions from the
Jewish Agency, the United
Jewish Appeal and the
Council of Jewish Federa-
tions, according to Michel.
In addition, he pointed out
the major Jewish organiza-
tions are all providing help
either through funds or
office facilities.
