Sports Activities and Cultural Programs
Are Made Available at the Jewish Center

The Jewish Community
Center announces it has
made available a variety of
activities for sports
enthusiasts.
For golfers, the Center of-
fers an indoor driving
range. Hours are 9 a.m.-10
p.m. Wednesdays and 10
a.m.-5 p.m. Sundays.
PGA professionals Bob

Percey and Curt Hay will be
on hand to offer tips. Video
replay instruction also is
available.
The Center's winter
golf school will be held
Feb. 9-13 and Feb. 23-27.
Hours are 1-3 p.m.
Monday-Friday and
7-9:30 p.m. Monday-
Thursday. There is a

be held Feb. 15: Men's
doubles, women's dou-
bles and mixed doubles.
There is an entry fee and
players must supply their
own tennis balls. Prizes
will be awarded, and
consolation rounds will
be played.

A 10-week series of gym-
nastics classes will begin
the week of March 1 at the
Center. The classes are open
to boys and girls age 6-15.
Instructors are Mike and
Klava Friedin.
Class schedules are as fol-
lows: 4 p.m. Tuesdays, girls,
age 6-8; 5 p.m. Tuesdays,
girls, age 9-15; 6 p.m. Tues-
days, boys tumbling; 4 p.m.
Thursdays, girls, 6-8; 4:45
Thursdays, 9-15 year olds.
There is a charge and the
public is invited.
On the cultural side,
the Center's "For a Song"
series will present "A Lit-
tle Night Music from
Broadway" 8:30 p.m.
Saturday at the main
building.
Members of the Michigan
Lyric Opera Theater will
present songs from "My
Fair Lady," "Finnian's
Rainbow," "I Remember
Mama" and "Brigadoon."
Tickets are available by cal-
ling the Center, 661-1000.
The Center Symphony
Orchestra will present as
soloists pianist Tibor Szasz
and cellist Paul Olefsky at a
concert 3:30 p.m. Sunday in
the Aaron DeRoy Studio
Theater of the Center.
Julius Chajes will be on the
podium.
"Modern Israeli Art —
From 1900 to the Present"
will be the talk of an illus-
trated lecture to be deliv-
ered by Tsipi Weitzman of
the University of Michigan
8 p.m. Feb. 8 at the main
building.
Ms. Weitzman's talk is
part of the Israel Culture
Series sponsored by the
Israel Information and
Resource Center. For
ticket information, call
the IIRC, 661-1948.
A series of rapid reading
classes will begin 7:30 p.m.
Wednesday in the main
