A new college-level,
summer course in the "His-
tory of the Jews in Germany
in the Middle Ages" to be
taught in Passau, Germany,
has just been announced.
The course, to be_ taught in
English, is open to college
students for academic cre-
dit. Prof. Joseph Shatzmil-
ler, chairman of the Jewish
studies program, depart-
ment of history of the Uni-
versity of Toronto, will be
the instructor. Dr.
Shatzmiller is a distin-
guished authority in Jewish
history.
The course is offered as

part of the Pr.o4r
Austro-Bavarian Studies
under the auspices of the
Michigan Consortium for
Medieval and Early'Modern
Studies. It will be taught in
Passau and Augsburg,
Germany, from June 29
through Aug. 6. Registra-
tion for college credit is
available.
Among the other courses
being offered during this
summer session in Ger-
many are an archeological
excavation in Augsburg, a
course in Medieval Latin
paleography and a course in
Gothic to Baroque German
culture.

Oakland County locations
in the coming weeks to aid
senior citizens in preparing
income tax forms.
Volunteers will be at the
Oak Park Community Cen-
ter, 10 a.m.' to noon and 1'
p.m. to 3 p.m. on Tuesday, as
well as Feb. 3, 4, 10, 11 and
March 10, 11, 24 and 25.
Persons should bring
their tax information with
them. For information, call
the seniors' office at the cen-
ter, 541-0900.
The service will also be
available on various dates
at the Royal Oak Library
and the Royal Oak, Clawson
and Troy senior citizens
centers.
